Global Markets help their franchise of clients find effective ways to raise and invest capital as well as manage their exposure to risk. Global Markets has the scale and reach to conduct business anywhere in the world and deliver products denominated in almost all of the world’s currencies. eGlobal Credit Primary is responsible for formulating and executing electronic issuance and transformation activities and the digital strategy of the Primary Credit business. The team maintains relationships with partners, vendors and FinTechs and advises the Credit business of the latest market-structure developments and technology shaping Primary Credit markets and new issuance trends globally. The team also manages key front-office and core application development activities, transformation initiatives and data infrastructure for Credit, supporting a close collaboration between the front-office and internal IT teams. 

Key Responsibilities of role:

A highly motivated and independent person required for a long-term internship in the Credit business. Creativity and self-drive as well as strong quantitative and communication skills are essential. The long-term intern will work within the eGlobal Credit team to assist with key Primary Credit business transformation initiatives. 

The internship will involve working across high-profile transformation and application development initiatives which will provide the opportunity to collaborate with a wide range of business Subject Matter Experts and stakeholders, requiring innovative system design solutions. This role is ideal for someone passionate about rapid application development - able to leverage DevOps & platform engineering best practices - with a focus for creatively integrating, chaining and automating processes using our Generative AI technologies for maximum impact. The intern will also have exposure to key research teams, including ones responsible for advancing AI R&D and engineering and building AI/ML-Ops capabilities.

The intern would also have the opportunity to be directly involved in the product management process for key front-office applications including with internal marketing and helping with training and communication.

This Long-Term Internship is therefore an opportunity to shape key Primary Credit initiatives from the ground up and the potential to make a lasting impact in front-office capabilities for a flagship investment banking business. 

The ideal candidate would have a background in a technical/STEM field and experience working across large-scale application development, preferably at either a tech, research or large financial institution. Other relevant experience, however, will be considered. The candidate must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and be able to work with a geographically diverse team.

Responsibilities 

  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Understand requirements, solve technical problems, propose complete solutions
  • Design and develop applications using our internal developer platform using Generative IA to automate and optimise business processes
  • Deploy and manage containerised applications using tools like Docker and Kubernetes
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate AI technologies into various business segments, enhancing functionality and efficiency - including AI research and Lab teams
  • Implement and maintain scalable applications using Python and related technologies within a DevOps framework
  • Engage in continuous improvement efforts by evaluating emerging technologies and advocating for their adoption where beneficial
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle, ensuring best practices in coding, testing, and deployment
  • Help identify improvements to our systems and business processes, contributing back to the platform
  • Conduct research on emerging technologies and industry trends to inform platform product development strategically

 Experience, Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering.
  • Complete self-starter, keen to dig, prototype and try things out
  • Creativity in visualization and presentation
  • Strong programming skills, particularly in Python  and familiarity with DevOps & platform engineering concepts a plus
  • Interested in (and experience with preferable) Generative AI, Large Language Models, Machine learning and Data Science
  • Integrating APIs and Databases, with knowledge of data pipelines and orchestration a plus
  • Experience with data visualisation tools such as Tableau, Alteryx, PowerBI
