BNP Paribas’ Fixed Income business offers a broad range of products and services in the global interest rate, credit and currency markets. Fixed Income help their global clients find effective ways to raise and invest capital as well as manage their exposure to risk. Their client base comprises hundreds of corporations, institutional investors, banks, governments and supranational organisations.

Fixed Income has the scale and reach to conduct business anywhere in the world and deliver products denominated in almost all of the world’s currencies. Their global network comprises more than 2,300 professionals working on our six main trading floors in London, Hong Kong, New York, Paris, Singapore and Tokyo. They are supported by regional offices throughout Europe, the Americas, Middle East and Asia-Pacific.

 

Traders generate revenues for the bank. Working in the fast-paced environment of the trading floor, you must be knowledgeable about your area of the markets and be able to rapidly weigh up risks and returns in order to identify opportunities and determine the best strategies and prices.

 

What you’ll do:

- Monitoring market news and events and evaluating the risk and opportunities for clients and the Bank's positions and strategy

- Providing market liquidity through market making in a defined range of instruments and limits

- Assisting senior traders with tracking their position and creating and maintaining trading tools

- Pricing, buying and selling a defined range of instruments for clients and taking trading positions on behalf of the Bank

- Handling product portfolios

- Booking and understanding the products traded on the desk

- Developing spreadsheets to help the desk price and monitor risk

- Performing quantitative and qualitative analysis of different trading strategies

- Preparing daily P&L and escalating any unexplained elements to the desk head for sign off

- Understanding the different market effects in the P&L

- Working with Middle Office to confirm the daily P&L and reconcile it

- Working with the operational support functions to facilitate and monitor the settlement process

- Liaising with Legal, Compliance and Risk Management to ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory and control requirements

 

We’re ideally looking for graduates with the following:

- A previous related internship or work experience in financial services and/or investment banking

- Background in Engineering, Financial Engineering, Finance, Maths, Sciences, Economics, Econometrics or related disciplines

- Good communication skills and fluency in English (both written and verbal)

- Programming skills such as C++ are a plus here but we’re ideally looking for people who understand programming

- Strong mathematical, analytical & quantitative skills

- Strong organisational and time management skills

- High level of initiative and drive

- Committed, self-driven and ability to work under pressure.
