Global Markets Strategy & Risk
Within the Global Markets activity, there are two unique teams within the Strategy & Risk function. GM Resource Management & Strategic Risk are teams of risk and resource experts that explain the relationship between new trades, existing portfolios and their respective consumptions of scarce resources: capital, funding, and balance sheet. Linking millions of rows of data to single resource metrics is a challenging task in the context of moving markets, evolving client business, and the changing, complex regulatory landscape.
KEY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
The candidate will support the team specialists by immersing himself/herself in a given product line to understand the nature of the business and the marginal impact each trade has on the overall pool of resources. A strong quantitative background, a breadth of IT experience and analytical skills, and a thirst for knowledge will be essential for this role. Significant creativity is required to build graphical interfaces that represent large data sets in useful and productive ways.
- Develop an understanding of IT workflows for a product line (10%)
- Develop an understanding the trade lifecycle (10%)
- Work to industrialize daily information flows and reporting via the development of graphical interfaces of large scale clustered data (20%)
- Manage small projects requiring inputs across multiple teams and participants (10%)
- Work towards improved data flows, and best golden source static data repositories to support GUI accuracy (10%)
- Analyse changes in market risk, RWA, trade volumes (10%)
- Summarize anticipated forward regulatory impacts for pending legislations (10%)
- Prepare powerpoint presentations and ad-hoc reporting / coordination tasks (10%)
- Feed and maintain database repositories of key metrics (10%)
TECHNICAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION REQUIRED FOR THE ROLE
- Strong command of written and spoken English with a rich vocabulary
- Strong presentational skills across multiple media forms
- Strong IT and programming skills including JavaScript, Jscript GUI’s (like D3 Plotly, Chart.js), R statistical software package, Python, strong Excel skills, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint, database manipulation and management
- A overall understanding and interest in geo-politics, the financial systems, trade barriers, the real corporate world
- A results oriented perspective with good time management skills, and the ability to intuitively cater towards a given audience
- Ability to work independently, seek information proactively, and deliver a finished product
- Project management and development skills
- Willingness to be humble performing coordination and organizational tasks
