Department Overview

 

The Energy, Resources & Infrastructure department is part of Financing Solutions EMEA. It is comprised of circa 130 professionals and has a leading position as adviser and arranger of limited-recourse financing solutions in the following sectors across the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region:

• Infrastructure

• Power and Renewables

• Oil & Gas (upstream, midstream and downstream)

• Metals & Mining

The team advises clients with respect to their debt financing needs, arranges and structures debt financing as mandated lead arranger, cross sells other products of the bank (including hedging and cash management solutions), acts as coverage for certain clients and monitors its exposure to transactions on its book.

 

The team is located in Paris, Brussels and London (main hubs), with local teams in Milan, Madrid, Geneva and Moscow.

 

Within ERI, there is an Infrastructure Fund coverage responsibility to coordinate the efforts done by ERI and other BNPP business lines to maximise the value created to and from this very relevant investor base (USD420bn AuM). This position provides interaction not only with the very strong financing platform of BNPP but to other business lines such as Corporate Finance, allowing to have a global picture of all BNPP activities in EMEA.

 

The selected candidate will report to the Head of Infrastructure Fund Coverage EMEA, based in London.

 

Job Purpose

 

You will assist the Head of Infrastructure Fund Coverage EMEA and other senior team members with the preparation of internal and external / client presentations, interaction with other BNPP members in the origination of deals, management of communications and assistance in pitches and potentially in the execution of new deals, thus allowing you to acquire, not only project and infrastructure finance skills but an understanding of the Infrastructure market dynamics and BNPP’s global product offering. You will also be involved in a variety of tasks allowing a general introduction to our business.

 

You will have an opportunity to work across all the Infrastructure related sectors and businesses which will provide you the general knowledge of all the assets and very broad investors universe in EMEA.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Internal analysis

  • Prepare internal analysis on the Infra Fund investor universe, understand their investment dynamics, their asset portfolios and their acquisition and financing needs
  • Manage investors database and general sector information
  • Prepare internal presentations on sector and investor trends and in general any topic related to infrastructure investors
  • Interact with market consultants for the analysis of sectorial information

 

Internal and external Coordination

  • Manage communication channels between different business lines including ERI, corporate finance and global markets
  • Interaction with other Geographies where BNPP is present
  • Participate in related internal/external conference calls/ meetings
  • Prepare follow up documentation of topics discussed
  • Organise internal/external meetings and follow up

 

Support to the origination of new deals

 

• Contribute to the preparation of screening memos, commercial proposals/pitches and, as applicable, research papers

 

Execution of new deals

 

• Potentially assist in the development of financial models, ﴾including any model audit﴿, and prepare related deliverables and interact with the client on those aspects

• Contribute to the preparation of credit proposals, information memoranda and certain due diligence aspects

• Assist in the KYC on-boarding process and interaction with clients

 

Skills and Experience

 

-          Strong academic record, by preference Master in Engineering, Economics or Finance preferred

-          Previous work experience related to Investment Banking / Structured Finance or similar front office environment

-          Excellent quantitative and analytical skills

-          Analytical mind-set and commercial knowledge of capital markets
