Business Overview

Financial Institutions Coverage (FIC) is a global coverage group specialising in the Financial Institutions sector. The UK team based in London provides sector coverage to UK Banks and Insurance Companies.  FIC aims to build long term relationships with key clients and gain insight into client strategy and targets to provide original and integrated ideas and solutions. Senior Bankers and Relationship Managers’ responsibilities include:

 

  • Manage the overall client relationship in order for BNP Paribas to be seen as a long-term partner.
  • Build network across C-suite, decision-makers, dealers and facilitators
  • Understand client requirements, identify gaps in coverage, and work with front office salespeople to pitch suitable solutions and services
  • Develop detailed client plans to establish pipeline opportunities/ priorities for resource planning
  • Promote cross-selling, diversify revenue streams to support sustainable long-term business flow
  • Supporting business lines on risk related issues

 

Role responsibilities

Assisting and supporting FIC Bankers in their efforts to promote all of the Bank’s product lines, both domestically and globally, including a full range of investment banking services, complex bespoke solutions, specialist strategic advice and a comprehensive range of standard commercial banking products.

 

Primary Responsibilities

As a Long-Term Intern you will work directly with the London FIC team responsible for the coverage of UK Banks and Insurance Companies. Responsibilities include:

  • Perform economic and financial analysis on key clients and prospects
  • Conduct industry research, including peer analysis and sector/country studies
  • Prepare presentation and marketing materials for use in client meetings and transaction execution, covering topics such as financing alternatives, capital markets activity, capital structuring advice, treasury services and derivatives 
  • Conduct internal reviews and follow up action plan per client/portfolio: analyse business potential and cross selling opportunities, participate in meetings with salespeople to identify opportunities/gaps
  • Monitor market trends and track client performance
  • Understand the impact of new regulation, market evolution of Financial Institutions and BNP Paribas offering (including Solvency II, Basel regime, MiFID II)

 

Technical skills and qualification

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as presentation skills
  • Strong knowledge of PowerPoint and Excel – Bloomberg would be a plus
  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Highly motivated and pro-active individual who is curious to learn
