DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
ALM Treasury has a unique position within the BNP Paribas, as a transversal activity present throughout the Group. It manages balance sheet financial risks and requires ALM Treasury to operate in the financial markets and partner with all of the Group’s entities.
ALM Treasury’s mission is to:
- Manage the liquidity position of the Group including access to central banks & their liquidity facilities
- Manage the interest rate risk in the banking books (IRRBB) generated from the Group’s activities
- Manage the operational and structural foreign exchange risks of the Group
- Redistribute liquidity & funding within the businesses
- Optimise wholesale funding in capital markets
- Use credit portfolios as collateral for debt issuance, securitisation and clearing operations
It also performs a prudential role by:
- Scrutinising liquidity risk for the Group through the monitoring of internal liquidity indicators and external market indicators
- Protecting the BNP Paribas name in wholesale funding markets
THE ROLE
The Treasury Analyst position provides a diverse experience across the various facets of ALM Treasury UK. It provides the opportunity learn a wide range of Asset & Liability Management and Treasury skills, along with related financial market concepts. It will also provide exposure to business management topics including operational risk & control, business continuity and regulatory aspects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analysis of liquidity & funding situation of ALM Treasury within the UK
- Analysis of the balance sheet, its evolution including significant business lines that contribute to it
- Analysis of financial markets & their evolution, particularly those related to risks managed by ALM Treasury (interest rates, FX)
- Assist Treasurers in the management of ALM Treasury operations including liquidity & financial product pricing & booking, analyse opportunities & market analysis, P&L attribution
- Production of regular management reporting, such as liquidity dashboards utilising Alteryx & Tableau software
- Preparation of information for internal committees such as ALCO and externally such as regulatory requests
- Assist across the various areas of operational risk and control for ALM Treasury activities, including business continuity management and resilience framework
- Contribute to ALMT and wider Group projects

TECHNICAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Excellent academic background, minimum 2:1 or equivalent in Bachelor’s degree
- Keen interest and basic understanding in Capital Markets
- Strong desire and capacity to learn
- Strong mathematical, analytical & quantitative skills are advantageous
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Proficient with MS Office tools, including Excel (any additional computer skills/coding are an advantage)
- Strong interpersonal skills and a sense of professionalism
- Previous internship or work experience
- Motivated and driven to develop a career in Asset & Liability Management and Treasury
