Work environment:

Within BNP Paribas CIB Financing Solutions platform, Export Finance’s mandate is to arrange plain-vanilla or structured long term financings for capital expenditure cross border transactions, managing risk through credit and political support from official agencies, i.e. export credit agencies (ECA) and multilateral agencies. With more than 100 officers spread in 30 countries, BNP Paribas has been acknowledged as a leader in the global ECA finance area for more than a decade.

The Export finance team in Paris comprises 10 front officers, focused on originating and executing deals in Asia and Latin America, as well as ECA financing solutions within limited recourse transactions worldwide (structured export finance).

Responsibilities:

The intern will support the activities of the Paris-based front officers, among others:

(1)Drafting of marketing pitches

(2) Drafting of indicative proposals and terms and conditions,

(3) running cost simulations and profitability calculations using the internal analytical tools,

(4) Support to credit committee processes,

(5) Follow up of existing transaction (annual reviews, waivers) when needed,

(6) Support to the team heads for internal & external reporting (P&L, portfolio follow up)

 

Export Finance works closely with large corporates and sovereigns entities, in relation with the worldwide coverage network of the bank and other metiers (such as Project Finance). As a member of the Origination and Structured Export Finance teams, the intern will be taught the technical aspects of Export Finance. He/she will be required to work with all members of the business lines on a global basis.

 

His/her task will include assisting the teams in the preparation of presentations to clients and to both importing and exporting countries, to draft letters of interest, write up financial offers, Credit Committees (including environmental and social due diligence) and market studies.

He/she will be asked to contribute to financial analysis, to carry out internal calculations measuring profitability using RAROC, GRR and other credit tools.

Overview of the objectives:

To learn basic Export Finance techniques, become familiar with analytical external or internal banking tools (GRR, RAROC, CRF, Tombstones database, RMPM …), and be exposed to different aspects of the export finance business including establishing contacts with foreign counterparts and access to a multi-cultural work environment. Requirement to multi task across transactions in different phases of execution.

Profile :

- Major European/ French Business and Engineering schools or universities: Business Administration,       Finance, Engineering (with Finance studies); Last year preferred

- English and French shall be fluent, any other language is a plus, specially Spanish or Portuguese. - Relevant experience in banking and finance, and internship or studies abroad represent a plus

-   Basic Microsoft office tools (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, …)
